How the APC Funded Low Carbon Tractor Project is Helping Zircotec Support Supercar Manufacturers.

Over the past 12 months, Zircotec Group has developed significantly thanks to the support from APC and CNH in the endeavour to generate a carbon neutral agricultural tractor.  At a surface level, you may not think the technology we have been developing for this ground-breaking project would be transferable back into our larger portfolio of vehicle projects, but the truth is the development of our Technical department is enabling us to improve, develop and automate the majority of our processes, in turn offering a more refined and adaptable service to the automotive industry as a whole.

One of the biggest challenges that has been raised throughout the LoCT projects has been the management and costs associated with the supply chain of all the components that could benefit from our industry-leading Thermal Barrier Coating solutions.  The increased supply chain results in not only a significantly increased piece part cost, but also adds mounting pressure on the JIT scheduling requirements on both Tier 1 and OEM production lines.  In order to address this issue, we have been working towards the development of both alternative products that can offer the right heat management properties without the need of shipping as well as an industry first venture to create solutions on premise for our partner OEMs and Tier 1 suppliers.

The need for this development has resulted in our Technical department growing to be an integral part of our business, consisting of Engineers, Project Managers, Technicians and Management that have been hired specifically for their expertise in their individual fields.

The latest addition to our senior management team is Andy Coyle, Operations Manager, who has accepted the position with a view to adopt and evolve processes within our production facilities, enhancing the department to help deliver the high standards and operational performance required and expected by our customer base of OEMs and Motorsport teams.

Andy will be overseeing our facility upgrades, including an upcoming extension that will further increase our production capacity, as well as all automation projects driven off the back of the Low Carbon Tractor funding.

The capacity and skills at Zircotec HQ are continuing to evolve, along with the industry, thanks to the projects we are getting involved with.  Allowing us to deliver more applicable services to the Automotive industry, including; ‘A’ Surface Thermal Barrier Coatings, bespoke colour development, in-house testing, higher volume series production, adapted coatings for hybrid vehicles, batch traceability tier 1 and tier 2 supply, and more!

And that’s just today… With the strongest operations and technical teams we have ever had in place, the possibilities are endless, and we are excited to continue to grow within the Automotive industry, supporting revolutionary concept becoming cutting-edge reality.
