THERMAL BARRIER COATING FOR CLASSIC CARS

pic5Unwanted heat can be one of the biggest problems for enthusiasts wanting to enjoy classic car motoring with contemporary convenience and reliability. Modern fuels and engine modifications result in higher combustion temperatures, while electrical systems are often expected to deliver more power yet work within a harsher thermal environment.

The Zircotec thermal barrier process can be utilised for these thermal management issues by means of component and engine coatings that have an appropriate period look. Under bonnet temperatures can be substantially reduced, restored finishes protected and ancillaries kept at a temperature where they can operate reliably. Applying an exhaust coating over the entire exhaust underneath the vehicle can substantially reduce cabin temperatures, helping to keep occupants comfortable and reducing the need for expensive and bulky after-market air conditioning.

The Zircotec high temperature coating process is particularly popular for vintage and classic racing cars as well as high performance classic road cars as it brings all the benefits enjoyed by the professional motorsport industry, yet with a range of thermal barrier finishes that deliver a durable period look.

More durable than exhaust wrap, Zircotec's exhaust and manifold coatings also take up less space, and when painted can retain the period look of the vehicle.

Zircotec's engine and exhaust coatings are maintenance free and don't require adjustment or re-application like other competitor heat barrier solutions.

There is no additional fitting time; some heat wraps can take considerably longer to fit.

Zircotec's high temperature coatings have been the simple solution for many classic car owners in:
  • Preventing heat transferring through to the cabin resulting in an improvement in passenger comfort.
  • Eliminating fuel vapourization.
  • Preventing damage to alternators and starter motors.
  • Avert damage to paintwork of components and bodywork in close proximity.
  • Reducing damage to rubber bushes in steering columns located close to hot exhaust manifolds.

"Our customers today don't want to be cooked by exhaust manifolds close to the scuttle or have the finish of their rebuilt engine ruined by heat within a few thousand miles. They also expect reliability equivalent to modern vehicles, so engine components and fuel systems have to be protected from the heat of the engine. The Zircotec high temperature coatings have proved extremely effective at addressing all of these issues." Desmond Smail, Aston Martin specialist.
