High performance drag racing car depends on Zircotec
Andy Frost's Vauxhall Victor is like no other. This version uses a 572 cubic inch engine to achieve a 0-60 time in one second and a 0-153mph time in a mere 4.8 seconds. With a top speed of 223mph, this is the fastest car running on pump fuel and radial tyres. Not only that, but this 1972 Victor is still road legal. Extreme performance requires effective heat management and for this, Andy relies upon Zircotec's ceramic coating.
"The coating worked like a charm," says Andy. "It kept temperatures down so the fibreglass front end never showed any signs of heat damage."
As in all forms of motorsport performance never stands still and a next generation Victor is now under construction. With power up to 3000bhp yet still road legal, the new car will use Zircotec's coatings on the turbos and manifolds to effectively manage underbonnet temperatures. "I'd never run turbos or manifolds without the coating," concludes Andy.
