Zircotec shortlisted for Oxfordshire Innovation Enterprise Award 2009

22nd October 2009

Zircotec has been shortlisted for the best precision engineering category of the Oxford Innovation Enterprise Award 2009.

The Awards were established in 2005 by Oxford Innovation in honour of Sir Martin and Lady (Audrey) Wood, who co-founded Oxford Instruments plc and continue to support start-up and growing companies in Oxfordshire and beyond. Sir Martin and Lady (Audrey) Wood grew Oxford Instruments from a start-up company in 1959, often acknowledged as Oxford University's first spin-out company, into a global instrumentation business employing over 1,200 people with a turnover of £156 million. This year's Awards are supported by Science Oxford (the public face of The Oxford Trust), who have encouraged the pursuit of science and enterprise since 1985.

Zircotec is of course extremely please to be shortlisted for this prestigious award, particularly at a time when the automotive sector as a whole is experiencing some significant challenges. Zircotec has continued to grow throughout the recession, with its continued focus on supplying a range of premium high quality products that meet specific market needs. Additionally we have continued to invest in ongoing product development and have added a number of new and exciting high-tech products to our portfolio, the most recent being our new lightweight flexible ceramic heat shield material, the sales of which are already exceeding expectations. As a testament to the companies success we have continued to recruit additional staff to work at our factory in Oxfordshire.

The winner of the Best Precision Engineering Award together with overall winner of the Martin and Audrey Wood Award will be announced at an awards evening to be held in the Oxford University Said Business School on Thursday 29th October 2009.
