Zircotec supported Historic Road Sports meeting at Silverstone on 17th Oct. 2009

18th October 2009

The Silverstone circuit was the venue for the final round of the Zircotec supported HSCC (UK) Road Sports Championship.

The event took place on on Saturday 17th October 2009. There were 9 races scheduled fo the day, with qualifying in the morning and racing in the afternoon. The weather at Silverstone was fine but overcast (and also a little cold!) though spectators were rewarded with some fantastic racing.

From a starting grid of 26 cars, congratulations go to the winner Simon Crompton in his AC Cobra; Dave Randall in his Ginetta G4 (2nd place); and Andrew Marler in his Lotus Elan (3rd place).

Preliminary awards were presented in the Silverstone Pit Lane immediately after the race by Zircotec's Managing Director, Terry Graham (pictured opposite). A more formal awards ceremony took place later at an evening reception after all of the days racing was complete.

In addition to trophies, all three drivers were presented with packs of ZircoFlexTM heat shield material for use on their own cars in preparation for the start of the new race season. (ZircoFlexTM is Zircotec's new flexible ceramic heat shield material. It is capable of solving a broad range of heat management issues).

Many of the Zircotec team are of course also interested in motorsport, and so a number of the Zircotec staff were there at Silverstone (some with friends/family) to enjoy the days racing and see the Zircotec product in use. We managed to get the following photogaraph of the event.......

Simon Crompton (1st)
