10th October 2008
Turbo Dynamics, a leading supplier of turbochargers to OEM's and the aftermarket, has now become an authorised Re-Seller for Zircotec's coatings.
The Re-Seller deal follows several successful projects between Zircotec and Turbo Dynamics.
The two companies first worked together in 2006 when Zircotec began to apply its performance coatings to Mitsubishi Evo turbocharger housings, a component that on race applications reaches temperatures in excess of 1000°C. Zircotec has since suppled coatings for the Turbo Dynamics hybrid MD476 turbocharger fitted to the Mercedes 2.7 litre C and E Class diesel cars, helping to optimise the performance of a car that produces some 280-300bhp. The relationship continued with increasing volumes of product being sent to Zircotec for coating, and with Turbo Dynamics seeing an increasing demand for Zircotec coated turbocharger housings.
More recently Turbo Dynamics has designed a new turbine housing for the Subaru Impreza, coated with Zircotec’s plasma-sprayed performance coating for improved performance and engine reliability. A new GT32 version of the MD555 unit will also be joining the line up this year.
Peter Marsh, Turbo Dynamics Managing Director, comments that “Zircotec's thermal coating products fit in well with the performance side of our business. The coating provides a real benefit wherever under bonnet temperatures are an issue. The coating protects under bonnet components that might otherwise be damaged through heat radiation, whilst general under bonnet temperatures are also greatly reduced. The applications are endless. In terms of turbocharger performance, the thermal dynamics are such that keeping the heat within the exhaust gases provides an increased response with reduced spool-up times, and we anticipate further demand from our continued development in the diesel performance arena.”
The Re-Seller deal allows Turbo Dynamics to offer Zircotec coatings as part of its standard product range as well as offering customer a one stop shopping experience if they are looking for thermal coating on their manifold, exhaust system and turbocharger. The deal also gives Turbo Dynamics access to Zircotec's expertise and support.
