1st September 2008
Zircotec Motorsport Sales Manager, Stuart Clarke, is on a flyer this year. Driving for Team DART he is competing in the televised Great & British Dunlop Sport Maxx Cup, and also the Classic Sports Car Club TinTops series. Using Zircotec's high performance exhaust and manifold coatings he's developed winning ways!
Stuart and his team mate Jason Richardson claimed a class pole position
at Donington Park at the start of August. They then went on to win their class
having driven fastest lap. Just one week later at Oulton Park the
duo claimed class pole position again for the Classic Sports Car Club 40
minute TinTops race. Oulton is a true driver's circuit, and the wet
conditions during qualifying suited Stuart who put the Mini on the grid
in 3rd place overall! The DART duo once again drove the fastest lap and
went on to win in their Class, finishing 2nd overall - their best
result so far this season.
Their winning ways continued at Brands Hatch over the August Bank
Holiday weekend when the team competed in the Dunlop Sport Maxx Cup.
Stuart yet again gained class pole position and went on to make a good
start in the race. He was held up when pole-position man Gusterton
spun at the first corner. The pack only just avoided him, but Stuart drove
through to take the class lead and build a nice gap before handing over
to his team mate Jason who drove well for the rest of the race to bring the car home
for yet another class win! "Jason has driven very well in all our
races," said Stuart. "This is his first year of racing and he's driving
extremely well. He must have a great mentor!" Their car had been involved
in a Mini Challenge race earlier that day and had sustained heavy front
damage, so the team were very lucky to be able to race. "Mini Motorsport
who prepare and the run the car did a fantastic job. The team worked
through the day to get the car back together again for the Dunlop race
with less than half an hour to spare! - so a big thank you goes to the
team, and a special thank you to Lee," says Stuart.
